FIG O'REILLY

Fionnghuala (“Fig”) O’Reilly is an Irish and American actress and correspondent for CBS's award-winning television series Mission Unstoppable. The STEM advocate and entrepreneur made history in 2019 as the first woman of color to win Miss Universe Ireland and compete in the international Miss Universe pageant. O'Reilly made her Broadway producing debut as a co-producer for the revival of the musical The Wiz and is currently a co-producer of Othello on Broadway.

O'Reilly holds a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering from The George Washington University, which led her to become a NASA Datanaut, working in the agency’s data science open innovation program. As an aspiring citizen astronaut, she has flown in zero gravity.

As a science communicator, she has worked with NASA and the European Space Agency to cover various space and Earth science missions, including the 2019 InSight mission to Mars, the historic all-female spacewalk, and Ireland’s first satellite launch.

O'Reilly is a White House Historical Association Next-Gen Leader and was recognized by Ireland's Prime Minister Micheál Martin as an advocate for communities of color in Ireland. In 2022, she received the African American Irish Diaspora Network’s Heritage and Spirit Award, and in 2023, was honored with the Trailblazer Award at the Diversity in Tech Awards, in partnership with J.P. Morgan, for breaking stereotypes and empowering women.
